Daddy's Home: Trump's best week shows America's still in charge
Trump needed one decision and one week to show America still runs the world

US President Donald J. Trump’s decision to conduct a surprise strike on Iran’s nuclear program not only delayed the Iranians and led to a ceasefire… it was evidence for the world. Operation Midnight Hammer proves that America is still in charge. This may be Trump’s best week yet, and it’s only the first five months of his second term.
So far, the Democratic Party continues to be a huge disappointment. Trump is outsmarting them. Trump honestly believes in a two-party system (MSNBC 100-day interview). It’s good to be challenged. Trump should be challenged on some of his policies. America might just need a new political party because I can’t see any way to salvage the Democratic Party. While the Democrats are redefining themselves, the rest of the world continues watching America on the world stage.
The World Watches
Russia

President Putin is too preoccupied with Ukraine to do anything about Iran even though Iran helps Russia out. Russia brought North Korea along in their fight with Ukraine. Fortunately, Ukraine has America’s backing with the US-Ukraine Minerals Deal (CSIS).
Israel & Iran
Trump announced a ceasefire and brushed off the Iran’s wimpy attack. Iran had to get it out of their system. Israel and Iran “don’t know what the fuck they’re doing” during the ceasefire mediated by Trump and Qatar. (Qatar is turning out to be a great ally for America. Who doesn’t love a free plane as long as it’s not a Trojan horse situation?)
It was a tense time period but Trump got them to stop fighting. The ceasefire is the main priority. No more shooting at each other. Quibbling about who won is childish. Everyone is a victor in their own story.
Iran will say that they got two countries armed with nuclear weapons to back off.
Israel got America to do something on their behalf.
America shows the world the strength of its military. America got the job done without any American casualties. No nukes for Iran right now. It’s delayed at the very least. America ended the 12-day war.
China

China does not necessarily get involved in other country’s business. They also have problems within their own economy. China has low domestic consumption and a real estate problem. China doesn’t want to be cut off from Iran’s oil. That would only add to their problems.
Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs hurt countries in a trade surplus. Like the US during the Great Depression, China is in that pickle. Fortunately, they made a trade deal with the US.
Harvard-educated economist Keyu Jin who grew up in China and teaches at London School of Economics shared her thoughts with the Singapore-based news channel CNA (CNA YouTube). According to her, it’s not too late for China.
China does have a bright spot in AI with DeepSeek. Let’s see what their latest 5-year plan holds.
BRICS
BRICS attempts to be relevant with their message.
We express grave concern over the military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran since 13 June 2025, which constitute a violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and the subsequent escalation of the security situation in the Middle East.
In the face of rising tensions with unpredictable consequences for international peace and security, as well as for the world economy, we underscore the urgent need to break the cycle of violence and restore peace. We call on all parties to engage through existing channels of dialogue and diplomacy, with a view to de-escalating the situation and resolving their differences through peaceful means.
Trump took care of it, so thank you for your thoughts and prayers, BRICS.
NATO
NATO finally increases their military spending to 5% of GDP. That’s overall $1 trillion a year? Trump’s actions are described to be like a dad’s in getting two school kids to stop fighting by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The White House made a video called Daddy’s home. We have a meme, folks.
CNN commentary praising Trump?!?!?
Peace for the Democratic Republic of Congo & Rwanda
“Rwanda and the Congo, I’m a little out of my league with that one, because I didn’t know too much about it… I knew one thing, they were going at it for many years with machetes.”
President Trump (Forbes Breaking News)
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been working on getting them to stop fighting. So we have a peace treaty. Also, the US gets mineral rights from Congo, so that should help with decoupling from China’s economy.
What a warm reception at the White House, too!
What’s next?
The Big Beautiful Bill should help America remain competitive with China. States get federal funds for 6G in exchange for a 10-year moratorium on legislation regulating AI at the state level (Politico). Regulation at the federal level should help make it easier for entrepreneurs to compete with Big Tech.
Trump called out Canada for their Digital Services Tax and ended negotiations. This could further accelerate Canada’s decline. It might be in their best interest to become the 51st state. They could help pick the next US president. Alternatively, they negotiate a fair trade deal. Canada has oil, minerals, and Arctic access. Alas, the new prime minister Mark Carney is just as bad as Justin Trudeau. It’s almost like they are part of the same party… all it took was for Trump to make Canadians vote against their own interests in their snap election.
Deals are coming… maybe India next? Here’s how the tariff revenue looks. Outrageously high tariffs upset people for a week. Going to a 10% baseline with a pause calmed people down. I wonder what a 10% announcement at the beginning would look like. People generally seem to overreact when Trump makes big changes.

Please challenge Trump on actual policies!
The US needs a viable political party to challenge Trump on things such as birthright citizenship and education. He could make smarter investments in education and science. He’s doing alright in setting up the US for success in the AI race against China.
I don’t agree with his interpretation of the birthright citizenship amendment but I somewhat see what he’s trying to accomplish. He can go about it a different way.
I don’t like how he is handling education. The US has to invest in the American people at the federal level, too. Back in the day, President Abraham Lincoln signed legislation to create colleges. Trump might be at the FDR-level of greatness but he’s not at Lincoln’s level.
